About the Role

Asphalt Green is seeking a seasoned fundraising leader to join its development team as the Senior Director of Institutional Partnerships. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, this Upper East Side–based, on-site role will focus on securing major gifts ($50K+) from foundations and corporations, with a priority on cultivating six- and seven-figure grants. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience managing New York-based institutional funders and strong relationships with mission-aligned organizations.

key responsibilities

Institutional Fundraising & Relationship Management

  • Cultivate and steward relationships with institutional funders (foundations and corporations).
  • Develop funding opportunities that align with regional and national foundation priorities.
  • Manage a portfolio of foundation prospects at major gift levels ($50K+).
  • Serve as a key partner to the Chief Development Officer and executive team to build and maintain a strong institutional funding pipeline.
  • Identify and pursue six- and seven-figure grant opportunities aligned with Asphalt Green’s mission and capital priorities.
  • Suggest high-potential prospects for board and volunteer committee engagement.


Proposal Development & Grant Writing

  • Write and edit grant proposals, letters of inquiry, concept papers, and reports tailored to donor language and expectations.
  • Lead the full grant submission process, including letters of intent, budgets, and reports.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness in all grant-related submissions and fulfill donor reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with executive team members to draft and execute gift agreements.


Capital Campaign Support

  • Collaborate with the Chief Development Officer and executive leadership in planning and supporting a comprehensive capital campaign.
  • Develop compelling proposal ideas that drive major investment in Asphalt Green’s capital and mission-aligned initiatives.

Stewardship & Donor Engagement

  • Create and manage a stewardship calendar with communications and strategic touchpoints.
  • Organize and prepare for donor site visits, presentations, and events.
  • Draft executive and board-level briefings for donor meetings and engagement opportunities.
  • Provide timely follow-ups and ensure high-touch stewardship of institutional partners.

Internal Collaboration & Capacity Building

  • Develop training materials and coach program leaders on grant strategy and best practices.
  • Build strong internal relationships to effectively communicate Asphalt Green’s mission and programs to funders.

Data, Reporting & Systems Management

  • Track all development activity—identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship—in Salesforce/CRM.
  • Create and manage data systems for donor pipeline tracking and forecasting.
  • Report regularly on progress toward fundraising goals, including key metrics such as donor engagement and gift closures.

General Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of Asphalt Green’s development and organizational goals.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, is required.

Experience and Core Competencies

  • 10+ years of relevant development experience (at least 7 years of experience in foundation relations), including strong existing relationships and portfolio experience with large public, private, and NYC family foundations, and a proven record of success in grant writing and grants management.
  • Experienced in creating project budgets, and tracking outcomes and financial progress throughout the grant cycle.
  • Desire to reach aggressive goals, and the ability to independently solicit and secure private gifts.
  • Experience building and sustaining trusted relationships with large corporations and foundations.
  • Success supporting organizational leadership in donor cultivation and solicitation.
  • A strong understanding of and ability to communicate the mission and programs of Asphalt Green.
  • Ability to conceptualize and describe funding needs in a way that is compelling to prospects, donors, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Knowledge of software and web-based applications, including Excel budget spreadsheets, MS office, development database experience (Salesforce), and Foundation Center and other foundation directories.

About the Role

Are you a creative, data-driven storyteller who thrives on building energetic online communities? Bring your marketing and social media talents to Asphalt Green, where every day is about inspiring people to move, play, and connect through world-class sports and fitness experiences. 

The Social Media Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing Asphalt Green’s social media strategy across multiple platforms. Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing, this role is key to building the company’s online presence, increasing brand awareness, and driving engagement with customers and followers. The Social Media Manager will oversee content creation, community management, and performance analysis to ensure the brand’s voice is consistent and resonates with the target audience. Some after working hours and weekend availability may be required depending on timing for programs, events, and other organizational needs. 

This is an in-person position requiring a minimum of four (4) days per week in the office. The fifth day may be worked remotely depending on content and organizational needs. 

key responsibilities

Social Media Strategy and Management 

  • Develop and execute comprehensive social media strategies aligned with Asphalt Green’s marketing objectives, fundraising goals, and strategic plan. 
  • Manage and maintain Asphalt Green’s social media channels, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Threads, LinkedIn, and YouTube. 
  • Collaborate with aquatics and sports programs, camps teams and competitive teams to ensure all Asphalt Green affiliated social media accounts align with strategic brand and marketing strategies. 
  • Create, curate, and schedule engaging, high-quality content (text, images, and videos) for all social media platforms. 
  • Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely and professional manner. 
  • Stay up to date with social media trends, tools, and best practices to keep the organization’s presence relevant and engaging. 
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of External Engagement to use social media for generating press coverage, engaging key media contacts, sharing news updates, and measuring media impact. 

Audience Growth and Engagement 

  • Implement strategies to increase followers and drive engagement across all channels. 
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute targeted campaigns to attract new followers and retain existing ones. 
  • Utilize analytics tools to track performance, generate reports, and provide actionable insights for optimization. 
  • Foster an active and engaged online community, responding to user-generated content and facilitating conversations. 

Online Advertising Strategy 

  • Oversee the development, implementation, and management of online advertising campaigns (e.g., Facebook Ads, Google Ads).

About the Role

Asphalt Green is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to help guide their next phase of strategic growth and community impact. 

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer as a key member of the leadership team, the CFO will play a crucial role in both day-to-day financial operations and long-term strategic planning. This position offers the opportunity to shape the financial future and long-term sustainability of an organization that serves 20,000 people daily through sports, fitness, and play programs. You’ll work alongside a passionate leadership team committed to expanding access to high-quality programs while maintaining our commitment to excellence and community service. 

This position is located in New York City. Asphalt Green has locations on the Upper East Side, Battery Park City in lower Manhattan, and Crown Heights, Brooklyn. 

This is a hybrid role with at least 3 days in office. The Chief Financial Officer is expected to be in the community and at our sites on other days as needed. 

key responsibilities

Strategic Planning and Leadership 

  • Work closely with the Chief Executive Officer and the leadership team to develop and implement strategic plans and goals that support the organization’s mission and vision 
  • Oversee, evaluate, and improve day-to-day financial operations, policies, and procedures to ensure alignment with the organization’s overall strategic vision and long-term growth. 
  • Lead the Finance Board Committee, collaborate with other committee members to provide strategic financial guidance and support to the organization 
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of 14 finance, accounting, and billing professionals. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development 
  • Serve as the organization’s subject matter expert in all things finance and collaborate with other senior leaders to support departmental programs and initiatives.  
  • Develop accurate complex financial and scenario planning models to support the Leadership Team in strategic decision-making 
  • Effectively communicate key financial information to relevant stakeholders, and tailor reports and communications to specific audiences 

Financial Management  

  • Responsible for all financial activities of the organization, including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, forecasting, cashflow monitoring, and financial analysis 
  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial records, including the general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and other financial systems 
  • Prepare and present financial reports to the Chief Executive Officer, Leadership Team and the Board of Directors, providing relevant and effective analysis and recommendations as needed 
  • Manage relationships with external partners, including banks, auditors, and other financial service providers 
  • In collaboration with the Leadership Team, ensure appropriate and effective stewardship of capital campaign contributions 
  • Continue the implementation of Accounting Seed to maximize internal efficiency around financial management and reporting  

Budgeting and Forecasting 

  • Develop and oversee the annual budgeting process, working closely with program managers and other stakeholders to develop realistic and achievable budgets based on prior year trends and any growth plans 
  • Monitor actual performance against budget and provide regular updates and analysis to the Chief Executive Officer, the Leadership Team, key programmatic staff, and the Board of Directors 
  • Develop and maintain financial forecasting models that support long-term financial planning and decision-making 

Compliance 

  • Oversee all tax filings and compliance requirements, ensuring that the organization is in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations 
  • Responsible for the procurement and purchasing rules and monitoring the organization’s compliance with those rules 
  • Maintain full financial compliance and reporting with all organizational agreements, including the Sole Source and License Agreement with NYC Parks, Management Services Agreement with Battery Park City Authority, Operating Agreement with BFC Partners at Major Owens Community Center, and any additional leaseholds or financial obligations.  
  • Manage relationships with external auditors and other financial service providers to ensure compliance with all reporting and regulatory requirements 
  • With the support of legal counsel, review contract terms and conditions with new and current vendors 
  • Collaborate with the Chief Executive Officer and leadership team to develop and implement financial controls, policies, and procedures that align with GAAP 

Additional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Public Affairs or related field; MBA, MPA or CPA preferred 
  • At least 10 years of experience with progressive responsibilities in financial management, experience in a nonprofit organization preferred. 
  • Proven track record of successful financial management, including experience developing and implementing financial strategies, managing budgets, and overseeing financial reporting and compliance 
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience building and leading high-performing teams 
  • Experience with managing capital campaign finances and large-scale construction projects 
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders
